The Lapeer Community Scholarships were established with donations from Lapeer teachers, staff and community members. For many years, $5,000 in scholarships has been given each year to Lapeer graduates, nine $500 scholarships awarded to Lapeer High School graduates and one $500 scholarship awarded to a Lapeer Community High School graduate. Students apply through the Common Application distributed in the high school counseling offices in March of the senior year.

We are happy to announce that in 2021, we will be awarding $10,000 in Community scholarships: nine-$1000 scholarships to LHS students and one-$1000 scholarship to an LCHS student.  Our Board is committed to assisting our community students and families in meeting college costs.  Fundraisers held each year supported by the community help fund our scholarships and loans.  We hope to hold the very popular Trivia Night fundraiser in January 2022.  Lapeer has always been so good to our young people and this is another example of the belief in the youth and the will to help them succeed.

Student loans for college are available to all graduates of Lapeer high schools as funds are available. Currently a maximum of $2,000 per year, and $8,000 total, is available at 5% interest. Payments commence six months after graduation or when the  loan recipient separates from full-time college enrollment.

Loan applications are available in the LHS and CFI Counseling Offices, the LCS Administration Building, and can be downloaded and printed this site.  We will also mail applications, if contacted through our email addresses. We encourage any interested students to apply.  For more information, please contact Jerri DePuy, loan secretary or Susan Wilmers, executive secretary of the Lapeer Community Scholarship & Student Loan Fund Board.

For decades, the primary goal of the organization has always been to assist Lapeer Community Schools graduates with college expenses through scholarships and low interest loans.

If you are not a recent graduate seeking a loan or scholarship, maybe the reader is in a position to help youngsters cover the cost of their college tuition.  Please contact Susan Wilmers or any of our board members to determine how you can impact the lives of our Lapeer young people.  Donations are welcome and so very appreciated.  Checks may be mailed to the ASC address and can be designated to help our students with either scholarships or loans.  We are now also able to accept donations through PayPal.

The Board Members for the 2020-21 school year, including Lapeer Community Schools Superintendent Matt Wandrie, are Art Sieting, President, Bob Dennany-VicePresident, Pete Batistoni-Treasurer, Doug Lindsay, Sally Miller, Adam Schlusler, Jeff Stanton and Jennifer Taylor.
