The Lapeer Community Scholarships were established with donations from Lapeer teachers, staff and community members over fifty years ago. And, today, we award 10- $1,000 Community Scholarships-nine-$1000 scholarships to LHS students and one-$1000 scholarship to an LCHS student. each year. Students apply through the Common Application distributed in the high school counseling offices in March of the senior year.
Our Board is committed to assisting our community students and families in meeting college costs. The Lapeer Community, Businesses and individuals have supported our board’s efforts to fund our scholarships and loans. The Lapeer Community and Businesses have always been so good to our young people and this is another example of the confidence in our youth and the will to help them succeed.
We hope to announce in the next couple of months, new scholarships to be offered to the Class of 2026. For several years, The Bill DesJardins Scholarship, The Clarke Adams Scholarship and the Lapeer Elks Scholarship have been awarded and continue to be awarded to Lapeer grads at the Honors Convocation in June. Details on the eligibility and how to apply is available in the Counseling Office.
Student loans for college are available to all graduates of LHS and LCSH as funds are available. Currently a maximum of $2,000 per year, and $8,000 total, is available at 5% interest. Payments commence six months after graduation or when the loan recipient separates from full-time college enrollment and are set up on a five year payoff.
Loan applications are available in the LHS and CFI Counseling Offices, the LCS Administration Building, and can be downloaded and printed this site. We will also mail applications, if contacted through our email addresses. We encourage any interested students to apply.
For decades, the primary goal of the organization has always been to assist Lapeer Community Schools graduates with college expenses through scholarships and low interest loans.
